Assessment at St George's

Assessment at our school is ongoing for all pupils in our care. Teachers deliver the curriculum that children need using the National Curriculum. Assessments against the National Curriculum are made by teachers and are monitored by the senior leaders in school. Children in Reception are assessed against the Early Learning Goals. Children in all other years are assessed against the National Expectations for each year group. Our school target is that pupils are in line or above national expectations in each year group.

The school uses a tracking facility that enables us to track individual, groups and classes of children. Children take the Y1 phonics test and end of key stage SATs. Parents are encouraged to communicate with teachers on the progress and attainment of their child. Termly parents' evenings and the spring term report provide more formal opportunities for this discussion. In all classes, parents are encouraged to use Tapestry to see how their child is progressing. They are also invited in for regular discussions with the class staff team.
