Millfield's Inspire Graduation 2016

KS2 had a wonderful day on Monday at Plymouth City College STEM Centre to introduce them to their new topic 'This is Me'. They explored the functions of a human heart using a range of technology which enabled them to see a giant, beating heart in 3D projected into the air in the middle of the room. They also had the opportunity to use technology to make their own films promoting the benefits of a healthy lifestyle! Take a look at some of our photographs to see what the children took part in.
Have a go at our Easter Quiz......
Should we stay or should we go?

This week, Georgie Edwards came in to speak to Tamar class about the politics of leaving or staying in the EU. We had already watched a Newsround programme, so knew something about the topic. We listened and asked lots of questions to get a balanced view of the subject. We made notes for our writing, and then had a vote of our own. The results have been counted and verified and I can officially announce the result: 12 in favour of staying in the EU; 7 in favour of leaving. Georgie was very impressed with our knowledge and our questioning. Read our balanced arguments - they may help you make a decision if you are still undecided.

Each week we award for Learning Star to the Children who have shown the attributes of a successful learner...

Tavy and Plym's Hook Day - 'How does your Garden Grow?'  Planting Day.

Lent Theme day-

A wonderful day where the whole school made pancakes with our church worker Logan, the children learnt about why we have pancakes at the beginning of lent as well as how to make them.  The children also listened to and wrote 'The temptation of Jesus'.  The children followed this through by making 'Love in the box' where they placed either a chocolate or a prayer to be kept for 40 days and nights, where they have to resist temptation.  Have a look at Tavy class making pancakes.

KS2 Hook Day!

After a fun morning of sampling chocolate and finding out about where some of our chocolate came from, we designed and promoted our own chocolate bars and pitched our ideas to each other!  They all sounded delicious!

Able Writer's Day for MAT schools!

On Thursday 3rd December, 7 children from each school in St Christopher's MAT met at St Matthew's CEP Academy to take part in an inspirational workshop led by the author, David Gatward.  The children had an amazing time and have taken away some great ideas to help them with their own writing!

The Story of the Three Trees - HD

The 3 Trees - as told by Xt3.com: "Once there were 3 trees that stood upon a mountain top, and dreamed of what they wanted to become..." A beautiful story about our plans vs God's plan, as told by Xt3.com. For more Lent resources, visit the Xt3's Lent Calendar at www.xt3.com/lent...

St George's Bake Off Extravaganza!

We challenged the children to Ready...Steady...Bake! for Bake Week and they most certainly did!

We were absolutely blown away at the standard of baking - it was amazing!

Craig Fellows from The Bakery, in the Royal William Yard, struggled to pick the winners.  He was so impressed that he took some photos and said he would try and display them in The Bakery itself!

Below are some photos of the winners in KS1 (Traditional Tales) and KS2 (Space).
